Co-ordinates all the activities of the Group members and helps them to feel involved.
Helps prepare the meeting agendas.
Represents the Group at other meetings.
Chairs monthly meetings.
Maintains a list of “Things Needing Attention”.
Liaises with the school principal and teacher representative.
Qualities of a good President, include:
Lots of common sense!
Having the confidence to make reasonable decisions.
A clear understanding of the Safety House Program and the Constitution.
The ability to take on and clearly delegate tasks to committee members.
The Vice-President:
Works with the President in co-ordinating the activities of the Group.
Chairs meetings in the absence of the President.
The Secretary:
Keep minutes of meetings.
Responds to, and prepares, all correspondence.
Prepares agendas.
Distributes minutes of meetings to all Group members.
Organises the distribution of the In-House newsletter and other Directorate publications to all Group members and Safety Householders.
Maintains a list of Safety House applicants and who is to conduct the initial interview and assists the President with the general operation of the Program.
Qualities of a good Secretary include:
Being organised and prepared.
Having a sound knowledge of the Safety House Program and the Constitution.
Patience and common sense.
The ability to take on and delegate tasks to be completed between monthly meetings.
The Monitoring Co-ordinator:
Co-ordinates the monitoring of the Group’s zone of responsibility.
Allocates each monitor with an area to be monitored and gives them details of the Safety Houses.
Checks that the monitors have completed their monitoring each month.
Collates each monitor’s details.
Completes the Monthly Monitoring Report Form, which should then be forwarded to the Regional Group or to the Directorate.
