How to help

How can I help?
Safety House Victoria depends on the help of community-minded Victorians like you to keep on going and growing. You don’t have to be a parent or be connected to a school to help us. You just have to want to play your part. Here are some ways you can help today:

  • Make a tax-deductable donation. To do this, please click here.
  • Join a Safety House Committee by making your home or business a Safety House. If there is no Safety House Committee in your area, why not consider starting up your Safety House Committee? Click here for more details on starting up your own Safety House Committee.

How to Join

Make your home or business a Safety House.
You will be interviewed by your local committee which will consider several factors:

  • Does the house have a telephone?

  • Is someone normally at home during the times children are going to and from school?

  • Is there a dog on the premises?

  • Are there any other factors that may deter a child from approaching or entering the premises?

As part of our security process each person in the house or business aged 17 years or over is screened by the local committee and undergoes a police check. All information obtained is, of course, strictly confidential.

Businesses can also become part of our network if they can accept the responsibilities of being a Safety Householder and ensure the premises have clear and safe access to the front door or shop entrance. Businesses will require for all residents or employees aged 17 years and over to have their details checked against police records.
